Coaches, please protect access to this site. It is provided for your use in teaching authorized Face-Up First lessons. Thank you!

Face-Up First certification and licensed provider agreements are available to individuals only, not to organizations or facilities. Individual coaches are each independent operators. The licensed provider agreement provides:

  1. Permission to teach lessons according to the published Face-Up First method and registration requirements - including the water safety course - under the Face-Up First logo.

  2. An agreement that the certified coach will provide class roster and contact information to Jeanie Neal for the sole purpose of quality control surveys distributed at the end of each session. Jeanie Neal will provide the full results of these surveys to the coach.

Steps to becoming a FUF coach:

  1. Connect with a FUF Program Supervisor. Jeanie Neal / Shelby Schultz

  2. Print out the Quick Reference Guide and Apprentice Card. (Scroll down for these documents.)

  3. Complete the online courses Guide to Face-Up First Swimming (Free), Intro to Competitive Swimming and the FUF Ten Training Habits(Free), and Water Safety Education for Parents & Caregivers ($12)

  4. Meet with and observe your Program Supervisor conducting FUF classes. Certification will require more than one observation meeting. Discuss the exact number of hours with your Program Supervisor.

  5. When prompted by your Program Supervisor, complete the online course Teach Face-Up First Level One.

  6. Apprentice teach under your Program Supervisors direct supervision. The number of hours for certification varies. The Program Supervisor will determine how many hours are necessary.

  7. Demonstrate understanding of the content and skills included on the Apprentice Card.

  8. Get the Apprentice Card signed by the Program Supervisor, and if the Program Supervisor is not Jeanie Neal, petition Jeanie Neal for a FUF certification and a licensed provider agreement.

Maintain your permission to teach FUF lessons:

  1. Conduct FUF lessons according to the licensed provider agreement. This includes adhering to the FUF teaching method, requiring a current water safety certificate of all student families, providing Jeanie Neal with all class rosters with contact information.

  2. Successfully complete the Teach Face-Up First Level 2 online course each year. ($35)
